Africa through Art & Design

Our Art & Design work this term will focus on designing and creating African patterns. The children will look at some examples of fabrics from Africa and a gain some insight into how these fabrics have been created through video clips and texts read.
Although tie dying and batik fabrics are widely used methods amongst African countries, the year 4 children will focus on a different technique -transferring their created designs onto cloths using screen printing.
Inspiration for the creation of their designs will develop from secondary sources: through research from photographs from the internet; storybooks; school rersource pack from The Gambia and artifacts which the children have brought into school.
